A Romney’s Rebuttal By My Friend!

Some of my best friends are pro Romney and anti Obama.

Here’s one email I received about Romney. All the statements are correct, and yet I’m still not going to vote for him, because of his policies on Medicare, Abortion and Taxation to begin with.

However, I always like to read and be informed of opposing views, so here it is!

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

A lot is being said in the media about Mitt Romney not being “likable” or that he doesn’t “relate well” to people. Frankly, we struggled to understand why. So after much research, we have come up with a Top Ten List to explain this “unlikablility.”

Top Ten Reasons To Dislike Mitt Romney:

1. Drop-dead, collar-ad handsome with gracious, statesmanlike aura. Looks like every central casting’s #1 choice for Commander-in-Chief.

2. Been married to ONE woman his entire life, and has been faithful to her, including through her bouts with breast cancer and MS.

3. No scandals or skeletons in his closet.(How boring is that?)

4. Can’t speak in a fake, southern, “black preacher voice” when necessary.

5. Highly intelligent. Graduated cum laude from both Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School… and by the way, his academic records are NOT sealed.
6. Doesn’t smoke or drink alcohol, and has never done drugs, not even in the counter-culture age when he went to college. Too square for today’s America ?
7. Represents an America of “yesterday”, where people believed in God, went to Church, didn’t screw around, worked hard, and became a SUCCESS!

8. Has a family of five great sons….and none of them have police records or are in drug rehab. But of course, they were raised by a stay-at-home mom, and that “choice” deserves America ‘s scorn.

9. Oh yes…..he’s a MORMON. We need to be very afraid of that very strange religion that teaches its members to be clean-living, patriotic, fiscally conservative, charitable, self-reliant, and honest.

10. And one more point…..pundits say because of his wealth, he can’t relate to ordinary Americans. I guess that’s because he made that money HIMSELF…..as opposed to marrying it or inheriting it from Dad. Apparently, he didn’t understand that actually working at a job and earning your own money made you unrelatable to Americans.

My goodness, it’s a strange world, isn’t it?

Loved it! A limerick for you:

Who is this personage Bill O’Reilly?
His program is always quite lively.
    He sticks to “No Spin”
    Which draws viewers in
Which is why he is thought of so highly!

Look forward to hearing from you.

  2. Barbara Cooper says:

Pretty much also describes our current President. So no debate there…One marriage, two great kids, no skeletons in his closet, etc. This might have worked against Clinton, but it ain’t gonna fly against Obama! Nice try, though.

  3. Martha Carr says:

When I told Richard about the last blog and the 13% tax bracket he said: Oh, you mean he’s a good businessman? ……..Also, another factlet: income from investments (most of his) are taxed at an effective rate of about 15%, rather than income from employment which is much higher. I’m just saying….nevertheless – there are other issues. Who do we want appointing new Supreme Court judges amongst the top concerns.

  4. Stephanie Kirschner says:

All of these facts may be true, but none of them in any way, qualify Romney to be President of the United States. Sorry. It’s takes much more than financial success, advanced degrees, clean living, a long marriage, and great kids to be the leader of the free world. He just doesn’t have it.

    • Stephanie Kirschner says:

I want to add one more thing. Romney is a politician, and to a large degree, that’s his problem. He’s in it for self enrichment. Obama is different. He believes in the greater good.

  5. Jim Palmer says:

Stephanie….Perhaps you could define the “Greater Good” , He defines himself and his religion as Christian Liberation theology……this is a oxy-moron….perhaps you should look up Liberation theology, I for one don’t want that kind of greater good. also i don’t think he needs the presidency to “enrich” himself.

  6. Stephanie Kirschner says:

When I talk about ‘greater good’ I’m talking about the idea that we all should contribute for the greater good, for the good of society as a whole. For example Obama’s plan for health care is an example of ‘greater good’. The Republican approach to everything seems rooted in the idea that we are each individually responsible for ourselves, which from my perspective is an I’ve got mine and I really don’t care if you have yours belief system. Republican’s don’t seem interested in the greater good at all, just in what’s good for them. The Republican’s hypocrisy makes me crazy… they talk constantly about wanting the government out of people’s lives, and then in the next breath don’t see any problem with wanting to make abortion illegal. I just don’t get it.

  7. Barbara Cooper says:

Apparently, Stephanie, the Republicans want government “out of our lives” whilst remaining in our bedrooms and gynecologist’s offices! They want women to be barefoot and pregnant so the good old boys can go back to running our lives (or should I say ruining?) I just don’t understand how any woman could ever be a Republican. We are one step away from this group taking woman’s right to vote away!
